The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that they have been able to raise over N1billion Naira in order to facilitate the re-invigoration of State’s security architecture.
According him, “I spoke about this at the first major fundraising event organised by the Ogun State Security Trust Fund Board which was inaugurated less than two months ago”.
“I disclosed, in addition to this, the decision of all six southwest states to set up a joint patrol team to be called “Amotekun” for which each state will donate 20 patrol vehicles and communication equipment to facilitate its take-off.”
“We are particularly interested in the security of lives and property, because of our shared (national) borders; proximity to Lagos, a city of commerce; and our recent development as an industrial hub with flourishing economic activities.”
“We are confident that all these our individual and collaborative efforts, including our recent donation of 100 patrol vehicles and 200 motorbikes to the Nigeria Police to enable the internal security of our State, will tackle the shortage in tactical and communication equipment, finances and operative motivation” he concluded.
