Truck driver kills woman returning from party


The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday said it arrested a man, Sunday Omoniyi, for allegedly killing one Becky Akinnuwesi with a truck in Idanre town, in the Idanre Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that 35-year-old Omoniyi crushed Akinnuwesi while she was returning from a party in the town on Saturday.

A source said the victim, who was on a motorcycle, fell when her clothes were hooked by firewood packed carelessly in the truck.

“The woman was coming from a party which held at Olofin Grammar School, Idanre. She fell from the motorcycle and the rear tyre of the truck smashed her head. She died on the spot,” the source said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, said immediately the incident happened, the suspect was arrested by men of the command.

“He is with us and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded,” he added.

The remains of the deceased were reportedly deposited in a morgue in the  town.
