Senator Ekwunife Restates Resolve To Win The Election For The Party If Given The Ticket



The leading aspirant for the November 6 Anambra governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife, Tuesday, June 22, 2021, played host to the Anambra Central statutory delegates. Ekwunife reassured the party delegates that she will be a Governor the people will be proud of, adding that if elected, her administration will ensure equitable distribution of projects across the length and breadth of the Anambra State.

Ekwunife, who was impressed by the turnout and excited to see the show of solidarity and love from the party faithful said that she is desirous to impact on lives of the people of the state. She noted that she has an actionable blueprint that will simultaneously transform all the sectors of the state economy.

Speaking further, the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator reassured that she will conduct local government election within a year in office. She said that her administration will not usurp the constitutional powers of the third tier of government.

While stressing that Anambra state is a hub of business in Nigeria, the A-grade Senator who is running as the most capable, acceptable and experienced aspirant noted that the state needs practical solutions to the problems facing it so as to attain its potential.

On the ongoing projects across the Anambra Central Senatorial District, Ekwunife said that the funds to be used for the completion of all the projects is in this fiscal year’s budget. The Senator noted that more developmental projects which she nominated in communities which include Obosi, Agulu, Umuawulu and others will be commenced and completed before the end of the year.

The grassroots friendly Senator restated her resolve to win the upcoming election for the party, adding that she will be empathetic, courageous and fair in all her dealings.

In his opening remarks, the state PDP Zonal Chairman Anambra Central, Dr. C.C. Okeke appreciated the delegates for answering the call of the Senator. He described the upcoming election as a great opportunity for the PDP, noting that nothing will stop the party from returning to Agu Awka. 

Dr. Okeke said that the party leadership will ensure free, fair and transparent primary election, adding that history beckons on delegates to get it right on Saturday.
On his part, the Chairman of Agulu Ward I, Mr. Anthony Okafor amidst cheers recalled how Ekwunife came to his rescue after his house was gutted by fire. He said that the incident was so devastating that he eventually lost everything he had. Mr. Okafor who said that the Senator is rebuilding the house after she had earlier made a promise described her as an uncommon politician.   

Mr. Okafor believes that Ekwunife’s political career will not end after eight years as Governor, saying she will one day be considered for either Presidential or Ministerial position.

On his part, the former Speaker of ASHA, Rt. Hon. Emeka Anyaenetu described Ekwunife as an aspirant with huge antecedents, noting that she is the best amongst the pool of aspirants jostling to succeed the present administration. He urged delegates not to be swayed by any form of inducements but to ensure that they cast their votes for Ekwunife on Saturday.

The meeting which was held at Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre Awka had in attendance some respected stakeholders in the zone which include former deputy governor of the state, HE Chief Abolle Okoyeagu, former Federal Rep member, Hon. George Ozodinobi, Chief Emeka Eze (Omega), Chief Vincent Odum (African Chief).
Equally in attendance were high ranking party state executives including, the State Treasurer, Engr. E. U Mgbemena, State Auditor, Hon Gozie Aniesona, State Asst. Publicity Secretary, Sir  Solomon Ozuah, Ex-Officio Central, Onyeka Okeke.

Also present were the PDP Chairmen from the seven local governments in the zone, Chief Jude Onyeawuna Ezeani (Anaocha), Chief Emma Odum (Awka South), Chief John Ekweozor (Awka North), Mr Alex Iremeka (Idemili North), Mr Ndu Ikeokwu (Idemili South), Mr Chigbo Dibiaezue (Dunukofia) and Mr Hyginus Anaeto (Njikoka).

Notably present were some prominent Directors of SUE campaign organization including the Director General, A. A Anagu, former member of House of Reps, Hon Micah Umoh, two former members of the state house of assembly, Hon Barr. Chuba Oranusi and Hon Dimobi Joseph.

Others were former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Barr. Ken Arinze. Former State Assembly Candidates of the party, Hon. Moses Anene and Engr. Prestige Okafor, former State Organizing Secretary, Hon Tony Ngaji, former council chairman Anaocha LGA, Hon Chibuzor Oli, former Deputy Chairman Anaocha LGA, Sir Chuka Okpoko, Dr Francis Okoye, Ichie Ekwulukaghalu Ubaka amongst others.
