Sanwo-Olu pledges support for Operation Crocodile Smile IV

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged his support for the Operation Crocodile Smile IV of the Nigerian Army, saying it was a right move to ensure peace and security in the South-West and the South-South regions.

Sanwo-Olu, who spoke during the inauguration of the Nigerian Army 81 Division’s Operation Crocodile Smile IV for Lagos and Ogun states held at Takwa Bay, Lagos, said his administration would help the army to intensify security duties in the state.

The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, for his foresight which brought about the exercise.

He said, “From antecedents, security issues prevalent in the Yuletide are not lost on any of us as men of the underworld tend to perpetrate criminal acts during this period. Crocodile Smile IV is a welcome development that promises to ensure that these blackheads of the society have no safe haven within the period.

‘‘When the residents see something, they should say something. The police and other security personnel are not magicians and they don’t consult the oracle; they act on information. It is for all of us to comport ourselves and be our neighbours’ keepers.”

Buratai, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. John Irefin, said the exercise was in furtherance  of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to combating security challenges in the country.
