The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award has organised a two-day training for teachers from various private and public schools in Lagos State.
The training was aimed at equipping the teachers with the knowledge and skills to become leaders who would, in turn, mentor others.
The National Director, Toyin Odu in her address at the event explained that the “The Duke of Edinburgh International Award” which operates in the country under the name “International Award for Young People in Nigeria’ is committed to reaching the youths from diverse backgrounds and equipping them as individuals to succeed in life.
Odu pointed out that the Award provides the necessary framework that enables the youth to learn practical, life and social skills, encourage physical activity, mental challenge, individual perseverance, teamwork and interaction with others.
The Award which is available to all young people aged between 14 and 24 has three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold; and has four sections designed to train the youths on personal development.
