One of the Anambra State APC governorship hopefuls, Hon. Sir. Azuka Okwuosa, has met with party leaders in Anambra South, to make his intention known to them.

The governorship hopeful, who was accompanied to the meeting by prominent party chieftains which included;  Chief Agbalanze Umuchu, Hon. Ike Ekwensi, Hon. Esiobu, Hon (Mrs.) Nkechi Nnoli, Chief Kenechukwu Udechukwu and many others, were received by the party leaders led by Hon. Izuchukwu Okeke, the Anambra South APC Zonal Chairman with Hon. Nestor Okoro, the party Zonal Secretary, the Seven LGA party Chairmen and others in attendance.

Making his intention known, Hon. Okwuosa disclosed that his intention to run was formed by calls from friends and well wishers, who know his leadership prowess and in-depth knowledge on governance urging him to present himself for the task ahead which is purposeful leadership both for the party and the State.

Hon. Okwuosa also reiterated the need for the party to unify if it must succeed in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. He also stated that he remains a peace maker and bridge builder in the party; having been called upon on many occasions to broker peace in the party.

According to Hon. Azuka Okwuosa, the chances of APC emerging victorious in the gubernatorial election is bright but can only be possible with a candidate in the party who does not belong to any camp. Hon. Okwuosa maintained that he remains a true party man without belonging to any camp.

In his exact words, “I decided to run because I see rays of light at the end of the tunnel, I don’t know any camp in APC, I know only the party and I will ever remain so. I joined the gubernatorial election to further strengthen and unify our party because it is only with unity that we can win. I was Deputy Director General of that election and also the chairman of the flag off, I played my role very well to ensure that we win but we lost due to division. After the election, I was appointed as the chairman of the fact finding committee to discover the root cause of our failure. I toured the 21 local governments to find out why we lost, after that we achieved a purpose that will take the party to the next level”.

“Now we have another opportunity lurking; only a peace maker with experience and good records can win this election for our party. Perhaps, I need to remind you the leaders of our party, of my past records within and outside the party, because for one to contest for governorship, your track record must be outstanding. As you know, I started from the grassroots, I was the Local Government Chairman of the Old Nnewi Local Government, now comprising of Nnewi North and Ekwusigo LGAs. I have also been a former Commissioner of Works in Anambra State. In addition, I have chaired several committees in the State and National Level for human, infrastructural and social development in Nigeria. So, I have the experience, the contact, the network and connection to win this election for our party and restore Anambra to its past glory because the state is in a state of comatose and quagmire under Obiano’s administration.”

Receiving the Governorship hopeful and his entourage, the party’s Zonal Chairman, Hon. Izuchukwu Okeke, described the contestant as a true party man, who is eminently qualified for the position he is seeking for. He went further to assure him that the party will do its best to conduct a free and fair primary election for all the aspirants. He wished the contestant well and prayed that his intentions will be actualized.

Also speaking at the occasion, another party chieftain, Chief Agbalanze Umuchu, described Hon Azuka Okwuosa as a man of impartial personality that will carry every party member along in decision making if he succeeds as the Governorship candidate. He further described Hon. Sir Azuka Okwuosa as the best man for the top job because he is a grassroots administrator, having served as Local Government Council Chairman, Commissioner, Party DG and so on.

In his words, “Hon. Azuka  Okwuosa is a man of integrity and have supported the growth of good governance in the state and in the party as well. I think now is the time to rally around him in order to get the nomination as the party flag bearer”.

Chief Agbalanze further beckoned on all the gubernatorial aspirants in the party from Anambra South Senatorial zone to relate together in order to achieve the collective goal which is producing APC Governor of Anambra South extraction.
