4 criminals nabbed after encounter

The CIA-I team of the district police nabbed four youths after an encounter here last night. Two stolen motorcycles and a pistol have been seized from the possession of the arrested youths.

Rohtak SP Pankaj Nain, while ddressing a press conference here today, said a team of CIA-I led by ASI Vinod Kumar was on night-patrol near Ramkaran Akhara on Chamaria Road.

“Four youths riding on two motorcycles came from Chamaria side. On being signaled to stop, they took a U-turn and tried to escape. When the police party chased the youths, one of them fired two shots at the policemen. However, the police team continued to chase them and ultimately arrested all four youths,” said Nain.

The arrested youth have been identified as Giriraj Shankar alias Bobby of Bagora village in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh and Paramjit, Kapil and Manjit of Rohtak.

The arrested youths have been found involved in several cases of vehicle theft, loot and snatching etc.

As per the police, the youths wanted to murder two persons, including a prominent political figure of Rohtak. A case under Sections 307, 353, 186, 114 of the IPC and under the Arms Act has been registered.

The SP pointed out that the district police had launched a special ‘Clean Rohtak’ campaign, under which as many as 50 cases pertaining to illicit liquor, drugs and betting etc. had been registered against the arrested persons.
