2 killed in firing over land dispute

Two persons were killed in firing during a clash between two groups over a land dispute at Mundogarhi village in the Gharaunda block here today.

The deceased have been identified as Julefakar and Baiser Ali, residents of Mudogarhi village. The deceased belonged to opposite parties.

According to information, Julefakar and Baiser Ali had a long standing land dispute. A court had decided the case in the favour of Julefakar a few days ago and directed Baiser Ali to give 1.5acres to him.

Baiser Ali had been cultivating the land for a long time and there was standing wheat crop on it.

A panchayat meeting was organised in the village last week to decide about the crop.

The panchayat decided that Baiser Ali would harvest the crop before handing over the land toJulefakar, said Manoj Kumar, SHO, Gharaunda police station.

Following the panchayat decision, Baiser Ali and his brother started harvesting the crop today.

Meanwhile, Julefakar along with others arrived there and tried to stop them, leading to an altercation, he added.

The SHO said there was an exchange of gunfire between the two groups and Julefakar and Baiser Ali were killed.

A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered against seven persons of both sides.
